TALKING HELPS & WHERE TO GO FOR SUPPORT IN A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS

Who are we?

Talking Helps in Tetbury is a new group that wants to encourage people to start the kind of small conversations that can make a difference to someone’s day.

Even a brief chat has the power to show other people we care and that they’re part of our community. It may even be what helps them get through to tomorrow.

What have we done?

As part of the project Talking Helps has worked with Tetbury Men’s Shed to renovate two vintage benches. Launched to mark World Suicide Prevention Day in 2026, the benches are on the Tetbury Trail in the Goods Shed car park.

The benches provide places to talk, but they’re also intended to make people think about how talking and connecting with people improves everyone’s mental health. If you see someone sitting there, please speak to them and ask if they’re okay.

Why?

You can’t always tell when someone needs support. Whether it’s to family and friends, or people you barely know, please reach out.

Talking Helps does not provide mental health services itself. Instead it wants to signpost the many local and national organisations who can already help. Contact details for some of them are listed here.
